'Inside, Outside, Above' is an essayistic film that explores various facets of Flora's womanhood: her sexual identity, growing up in the world as a girl, the differences between her mother and her, the relationship she has to her own body, and also explores ideas like femininity as performance and self-objectivation. How much of your self-image is shaped by how other people perceive you? How do you want to be seen? Are you ever free from your internal 'male gaze'? Can you ever see yourself for who you really are?
